As a trustee for the Sweetwater Union High School District, Jim Cartmill brings over two decades of experience as a professional speaker, coach, educator and businessman.

Prior to his election, Jim Cartmill coached the Bonita Vista girls tennis team, a group that included all-American and nationally ranked players, to an undefeated 87-0 league record. He was also the "mental/motivation coach" for Rhoni Barton, 1997 National Overall Water Ski Champion.

He directed the Campus Life Youth Program at Bonita Vista that was recognized in 1991 as one of the largest youth leadership clubs in the nation.

His professional speaking career includes workshops and keynote presentations to over one million people at local, state, national and international conferences and events.

Jim has had the privilege of sharing the speaking platform with Former National League Baseball pitcher Dave Dravecky, 3-time Olympic gold medal winner Gail Devers and internationally recognized speaker and author, Dr. Denis Waitley.

Jim Cartmill is currently serving as CEO of Alpha Nutraceuticals, Inc., a $7 million nutritional supplement company that went public in January of 2004.

During his service as a school board member, Jim Cartmill has worked to increase academic and physical fitness standards, developed a community service program, balanced over $1 billion in budgets and established educational partnerships in China, Europe and Mexico.

The Sweetwater District is the largest high school district in the state serving 80,000 students and 4,500 employees in our middle schools, high schools and adult schools with an annual budget of $260 million dollars.

He and his wife Cindy are both Sweetwater District graduates, and he is a graduate of San Diego State University.  They have a 6-year-old daughter, Blythe Marie, and a 21-year-old son, Jason, who just returned from serving as an Army field medic in Iraq.
