Sweetwater School District Interim Superintendent Steps Down

Dr. Tim Glover to return to San Diego County Office of Education

Interim Superintendent, Dr. Tim Glover, has resigned his position effective February 18, 2015.

Glover’s resignation was submitted in the interest of ensuring that an open and transparent process is followed in the search for a permanent superintendent. If he chooses, Dr. Glover will be eligible to openly compete for the position.

Dr. Glover is a product of Castle Park High School and returned to the Sweetwater District after serving as the Assistant Superintendent of the Student Services and Programs Division at the San Diego County Office of Education. He will return to this position upon leaving the Sweetwater District.

“It has been a pleasure and an honor to serve the Sweetwater Union High School District and its incredibly talented students, staff, school and department leaders,” said Glover. “I’m proud of what we have accomplished over the past several months and I leave Sweetwater with a great sense of optimism for the future.”

Since July, 2014, Glover took on numerous tasks of restoring a sense of integrity, honesty and professionalism to the Sweetwater District. This included bringing in third-party organizations to look at the Sweetwater District’s fiscal stability, technology initiatives, district-owned properties, and charters formed in the Sweetwater District.

“On behalf of the Board of Trustees and the entire community, we want to thank Dr. Glover for his hard work and dedication,” said Board President Frank Tarantino. “His positive efforts to stabilize the Sweetwater Union High School District will continue to be felt even after he is gone.”

The Board of Trustees will be meeting in a closed session meeting on Tuesday, January 27, at 5:30 p.m., to discuss this matter and continue forward in finding a permanent superintendent.
