About our schools
About our district
District-level Parent Involvement
State and Federal Programs is responsible for holding Sweetwater District-level parent advisory group meetings. The District Parent Advisory Council (DPAC) for SUHSD provides input and feedback on programs and services for Title I schools as well as engaging in input and feedback on the district Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP). Each site elects/designates parents to serve on the DPAC. The DPAC meets monthly in the district parent center located at 466 Moss St. Chula Vista, CA 91911.
SUHSD serves over 9300 English Learners. Our District-level English Learner Advisory Committee (DELAC) parent group meets monthly in the district parent center to advise the local governing board on programs and services for English Learners. The DELAC assists in developing and providing input in establishing district programs and goals for English Learners. Each school with an English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) elects representatives to serve on the DELAC. The DELAC provides regular updates to the board regarding the needs of English Learners.
After School Programs (AS)
District middle schools receive local, state and federal funding for before- and after-school activities. Instruction beyond the school day is key to pulling students up to grade level and helping them meet academic standards. In addition, community-based organizations such as the YMCA provide enrichment/recreational activities that range from weight training and dance to leadership development and computer skill-building.
Click here for more information about our Before and After School Programs.
Block schedule (BL)
Extended class periods on alternate days, i.e. periods 1,3,5 one day, 2,4,6 the next.
International Baccalaureate (IB)
IB course curriculum covers subjects traditionally taught at universities. IB students take extended essay, theory of knowledge and creativity, action and service courses. IB courses are offered at Bonita Vista High and Castle Park High.
Twenty-First Century High Schools (21)
Before and after school programs are funded by the federal 21st Century Community Learning Centers grant. The seven Sweetwater District high school sites include: Castle Park High, Chula Vista High, Mar Vista High, Montgomery High, San Ysidro High, Southwest High and Sweetwater High.

Options Secondary School (OSS)
Options Secondary School is a warm and inviting school that offers students and families looking for a personal approach to education, one that could only be found in a smaller school setting. Options is small, yet provides many of the opportunities students normally experience at a traditional school setting. Most traditional schools are so large students can get lost.
Options students excel in and out of the classroom. The school provides academic rigor with A-G curriculum for students grades 7-12. Students are provided iPads to incorporate technology into student learning as required with Common Core. 7th grader students participate in the annual Compact For Success college visit at San Diego State University. Students are eligible for admission to SDSU via the COMPACT agreement.
Options provides a wide variety of club and school activities such as: ASB (Associated Student Body), fundraising, social clubs, dances, Senior Prom, Senior Disneyland Grad Night, Yearbook Club, Baile Folklorico Dance and Guitar classes, as well as ROP Engineering and Retail Sales courses.
Nutrition Services
The Nutrition Services Department strives to provide nutritious, appealing food and quality service to each school site. Lunch service is provided to all district schools. Breakfast and after-school supper service are available at most sites.
Meals are available at a reduced or no cost to students who qualify. Applications for free or reduced-price meals are available online and at the school cafeteria or by contacting Nutritio
