Now Hiring Substitute Positions in Nutrition Services Department

The Nutrition Services Department is currently looking for individuals who have a positive attitude, are customer service driven, energetic, and experienced to work in various school kitchen locations, in a dynamic fast-paced environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of food service and/or handling experience (preferred),
  • Possess or in process of obtaining a current San Diego County Food Handler’s Card or ServSafe Certificate
  • Must take and pass the Sweetwater Union High School District Classified Exam (sign up online: www.sweetwaterschools.org or call Human Resources (619) 691-5530)

Job Duties:

Include basic hot & cold food preparation, following standardized recipes, kitchen equipment usage, serving meals to students, using Point-of-Sale cash registers, adhering to safety practices & clean-up procedures.

Pay & Hours:

$15.02/hour for a 3.5 hour position

After application submission to Human Resources, qualified candidates who have passed the Classified Exam are then called for an interview. If hired, substitutes undergo a clearance process, then, if applicable, trained and assigned a job and placed in the substitute pool.
